History

The Game of wheelchair cricket had its begun in late 90’s in Karachi & some other parts of the country like Lahore, Islamabad & Mirpurkhas (Sindh). At  that time this game was included only in some festivals, different occasions of persons with disabilities or somewhere organized by disabled  persons organization DPO’s & NGO’s. After the hard struggle to introduced this wheelchair cricket game in different parts of the country, the idea was established wheelchair cricket in Pakistan in 1996 and by the grace of almighty Allah after the hard struggle we have been started since 2012 and uplift this game to promote it to the excellence level and made it to be the international level game with maximum players participation like other wheelchair sports held in different parts of the world.

Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council (PWCC) is administered and controlled as the governing body the game of wheelchair cricket in the country. PWCC and its associate partners exist to foster, and promote a world class sport and provide a competitive and recreational activity for persons with disabilities those are wheelchair confined at domestic, national and international level.

WHo We Are

More than 400+ registered players and a proper domestic structure work hard for the development of this game in our country. Pakistan wheelchair cricket team won all the international series till now including two times won the Asia cup title for the country. 

Muhammad Zeeshan is the founder of this modern format of wheelchair cricket his teacher was a muscular dystrophy patient and he couldn’t survive his life at the age of 42, Muhammad Zeeshan his student and also having physical deformity wheelchair confined generated an idea to start cricket on wheels in late 90s at teacher’s rehabilitation centre in Karachi. Rookhsana Rajpoot was the physiotherapist at the same centre. Both of them started cricket on wheels by a small group of other young persons with disabilities those are willing to play this unique format of cricket. Rookhsana Rajpoot got her sports performance trainer certification and specially completed the course of training of wheelchair sports from Thailand in 2009.

After enrolled wheelchair cricket in legal framework and registered body by the name Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council. PWCC started coaching clinics, camps in rural and urban areas in search of new talent and spread awareness of disability sports in less privileged areas, Rookhsana Rajpoot played a vital role being a lady work like one man army to uplift this game of cricket not only in Pakistan even she is the key of success of Afghanistan wheelchair cricket team and Iran & Cambodia, through video link skills development and game awareness and laws of this cricket to them. 

PWCC now a brand and largest sports organization in Pakistan worked in more than 24 cities and district with more than 400+ registered players enrolled in 16 regions of PWCC. 

The major domestic events Pakistan Champions League (PCL) just like PSL format, National Championship & Quaid e Azam T-20 Cup. In Calendar year different leagues also organized in different cities including Inter-District tournaments. Social Media play a key role to link up easily through our online membership form through our website and our social media , PWCC is solely the independent body work being the apex body of wheelchair cricket in Pakistan.
